The 10 Paths in Pathways



It's official! On February 13, Pathways will launch at Central Austin Toastmasters. Today, we will cover the 10 paths and the elective projects, so that you are ready to embark on your new Toastmasters journey. If you are a member, please check Member Resources for additional information.

1. Motivational Strategies

You will learn to build connections with people around you and understand their motivation. At the end of this path, you will create a team-building project.

2. Presentation Mastery

You will learn how the audience responds to you and how to connect with them. At the end of this path, you will deliver an extended speech.

  • Manage a difficult audience

  • Speak professionally

3. Leadership Development

You will focus on managing time and developing and executing a plan. At the end of this path, you will create an event that focuses on applying your leadership skills.

4. Innovative Planning

You will examine the steps to manage a project and create innovative solutions. At the end of this path, you will develop a High Performance Leadership (HPL) project.

5. Visionary Communication

You will develop skills for sharing information and planning communications. At the end of this path, you will launch a long-term personal or professional vision.

6. Strategic Relationships

You will champion diversity through personal and professional connections and develop public relations strategies. At the end of this path, you will lead a volunteer organization.

7. Dynamic Leadership

You will understand various communication and leadership styles and learn to resolve conflicts. At the end of this path, you will build a project that focuses on applying your leadership skills.

8. Persuasive Influence

You will build strong interpersonal and communication skills needed to lead a group to a positive outcome. At the end of this path, you will develop a High Performance Leadership (HPL) project.

9. Effective Coaching

You will develop strong interpersonal communication to arrive at consensus and coach others. At the end of this path, you will create a High Performance Leadership (HPL) project.

10. Team Collaboration

You will learn to listen actively, motivate others, and collaborate as a team. At the end of this path, you will create a project focused on applying your leadership skills.

Elective Projects

In each path, you will complete 4 elective projects out of a list of many. Almost all projects are common to the 10 paths, but keep in mind that each path may consider different objectives.

Level 3 (choose 2):

  • Connect with your audience

  • Deliver social speeches

  • Make connections through networking

  • Prepare for an interview

  • Listen actively

  • Use presentation software

  • Create effective visual aids

  • Connect with storytelling

  • Use effective body language

  • Use descriptive language

  • Understand vocal variety

Level 4 (choose 1):

  • Manage projects successfully

  • Build a social media presence

  • Manage online meetings

  • Manage a difficult audience

  • Lead a Q&A Session

  • Create a podcast

  • Write a compelling blog

  • Build public relations strategies

Level 5 (choose 1):

  • High Performance Leadership

  • Moderate a panel discussion

  • Build ethical leadership

  • Lead a volunteer organization

  • Prepare to speak professionally

  • Examine lessons learned
